The Boisie State Broncos was been snubbed by the BCS and not allowed to compete for a national college football championship. Or as Barrack Obama might say, a 'systemic error' has occurred. Of course that is old news.
But the same type elitism that enabled a corrupt BCS to be in existence was exemplified by the main stream media. That is because the AP voters had the audacity to rank undefeated Boise State as number four behind the Texas Longhorns and the Florida Gators.
The vote is a farce.
The Longhorns barely beat the formidable but not overly Nebraska Cornhuskers, 13-12 in the Big 12 Championship. Then they laid an egg and lost to the Alabama Crimson Tide, 37-21 in the 'BCS National Championship Game,' otherwise known as 'The Paper Championship Game' to Shots Heard readers.
Florida was also given a chance to make the Paper Championship Game. But they lost in the SEC Championship Game, 32-13.
Last year, Alabama (this year's paper champions) was in a position to go to the Paper Championshionship but lost. They were then subsequently manhandles in their BCS Bowl against last year's 'Mid Major' snub, Utah, who went undefeated and finished ranked second in the polls.
Apparently, the media was not giving Utah any undue credit. The win over a would-be champion was enough to force their hand. But with only a win over the 'mid major' TCU Horned Frogs, Boisie State could not possibly be the second best team in the media's mind. Nevermind that it was TCU's only loss and that they finished sixth overall. Deferment that TCU spanked would-be BCS crashers Utah and BYU by 31 and 27 points.
So essentially the media is saying it is a given, not only that Boise State would lose to Alabama, but that they would lose by at least 20 points. That is outrageous. This is egregious and only confirms Shots Heard's position that everyone deserves to settle their fate on the field.
The Boise State Broncos were one of the two best teams in college football this season. That has been proven. The media had no business ranking them fourth. The media no better than the corrupt BCS system that they allegedly abhor.
Picture: Boise State cheerleaders have a concerned look on their faces. The corruption of the BCS, validated by the mainstream sports media will not alleviate their concerns.
