100 Leads in Dead Boy Case

This computer generated picture is terribly difficult to look at. Most of our readers have a difficult time believing that a parent could "toss away" an unwanted child, of any age.

This is such a case.

Here, no one reported him "missing" but it is similar to other "missing" child cases where the child was either unwanted or something within the household led to the child's demise.  Because the parent or parents did not report him missing, it will be up to friends and neighbors who knew him or his family, to come forward.

Somewhere there is a grandmother, or grandfather, uncle, aunt, or next door neighbor, who knew this boy wasn't wanted.

CPS workers are thinking long and hard over involvement in the last few years with a child who looked like this boy did.

What makes this case different is that the parent did not try the phony "missing child" route; perhaps having seen too many cases come back to the originating family.

Justice must come for this child.  Note the bold print within the article as additional commentary and guess-work.  There are no statements for analysis.

SOUTH BERWICK, Maine — Two days after a boy’s body was found off a roadside in Maine, frustrated law enforcement agencies pleaded with the public Monday for help in identifying him.
State police said they have investigated about 100 leads from northern Maine to as far away as the Midwest but so far haven’t had any luck in identifying the boy.
“We’re pleading to the public to help us identify this boy,” saidMaine State Police Chief Col. Robert Williams. “Somebody out there knows who this boy is.”

Someone who saw the neglect, the drugs, the child left to fend for himself.  Someone knows the unstable parent or parents who could not put the child's needs above their own.  Someone may have called, anonymous, to CPS, up to 4 years ago.  Someone knows.
Police investigators believe the body was there for about nine hours before a nearby resident discovered it, officials said Monday.
Investigators believe the body was placed along the remote road Saturday morning, and that the boy had died a couple of hours earlier, said Stephen McCausland, spokesman for theMaine Department of Public Safety. The body, which was covered with a green blanket, was discovered around 5 p.m.

The use of a blanket points to a mother.  When mothers kill, they often include a blanket, or a teddy bear, or something that 'comforts' the child they have just killed.  The mother is likely young, and may have drug involvement.  She may have a relatively new boyfriend who did not want the boy around.

Have you seen such a little boy?

Did a mother tell you she and the boy were moving?   A father?  Although the blanket points to a mother, it could be a father as well.

The mother or father  likely lives or lived within reasonable driving distance to this area in Maine.
Detectives were working Monday to identify the boy based on dozens of tips that flowed in after the release of a computer-generated depiction of the boy, a blue-eyed youngster with dirty-blond hair who’s believed to be between 4 and 6 years old.
“Everybody in New England knows the boy’s face. Now we need a name to go with the face,” McCausland said.
Identifying the boy is a key step to moving the investigation forward. The death was deemed suspicious, but investigators withheld autopsy findings.
In addition to checking out tips, state police were reviewing surveillance video in Maine and New Hampshire, as well as looking into reports that a blue Toyota Tacoma extended-cab pickup with a cover was in the area before the body was discovered. They also have reached out to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, whose database is being searched.
State police Sgt. Chris Harriman said that based on the appearance of the body, the boy was healthy and cared-for before his death.
The boy was 3 feet, 8 inches tall and weighed 45 pounds. He was wearing a gray camouflage hooded sweatshirt, tan pants and black “Lightning McQueen” sneakers.
The body was found by a woman who lives in the neighborhood. She saw a blanket at the end of a driveway and then discovered the body nearby, police said.
The dirt road where the body was discovered was off Route 4, in a wooded area with about a dozen scattered homes.
