It is difficult to find a job as a felon. It is even more difficult when the felony involved theft and breach of trust.
Where might a convicted felon who has destroyed trust with those closest to her work?
1. McDonald's: "I totally don't think you need to supersize your fries!"
2. Walmart: Walmart avoids felons when it can but, for the sake of a quote:
"I literally think that you are honestly going to find the absolute best perspective deal on hoodies in the very best colors here."
3. Telemarketer Cold Caller: "Talking to you; a total waste."
4. Starbucks: "I am totally, like, you know, hitting that. That guy has absolutely the most totally righteous topping on his tall white mocha half calf half fat soy vegan grande latte. Back off, I'm serving him."
5. Health Clinic: "Absolutely the most totally effective shot. I have literally used it after Jose and it worked like complete magic!"
If legislators in San Francisco, California have their way, though, convicted felons may soon become a protected class, which would mean that employers and landlords would not be able to ask about criminal history on job or housing applications. These lawmakers feel that because convicted felons have a hard time getting jobs or apartments, they are forced to continue a life a crime.
