ORLANDO, Fla.—On Friday, July 1, the case against Casey Anthony, who is accused of murdering her 2-year-old daughter Caylee Marie Anthony, finally ended. As the prosecution’s rebuttal case took center stage on Friday morning, with witnesses who worked with Cynthia Anthony refuting her sworn testimony that she was at home on two days in March 2008 and was the one who made computer searches about “chloroform.” This week, I spoke exclusively with Cindy's former sister-in-law Pam Plesea from her Myrtle Beach, S.C. home about the case that has gripped the nation, and about the inner workings of the Anthony and Plesea families.

Deceased Caylee Anthony

Pam Plesea is the ex-wife of Cynthia Anthony’s brother Rick. Though estranged from her ex-husband and ex-sister-in-law, she spoke with me after refusing to sell her story to Globe and National Enquirer magazines.

I was initially contacted like everyone else in the family for photographs of Casey and the family. But I wanted nothing to do with the story or these people anymore. Rick has disowned our son, and I have been talking in secret to Rick and Cindy’s mom Shirley (Plesea) all of these years. And she told me what happened the night Caylee went missing on June 15, 2008. It’s not what Cindy and George have sworn under oath to in court either,” said Pam Plesea.

Note that there was initial contact for photos, indicating that there were subsequent contacts as well.   Note that it is "our" son, something we generally see in divorce cases.  The norm is "my son" but here it has the name "Rick" next to it ,and the sharing of ownership is often found in divorce cases, adoption, or step parenting.
Note that Shirley "told" what happened; which would be stronger than simply saying what Shirley said.  This is likely that the subject considered Shirley's account to be authoritative.

Cindy’s testimony, which shocked court watchers last week when she took credit for the searches on the Anthony family computer surrounding neck breaking, chloroform, how to make chloroform and other searches that the prosecution claimed were made only by Casey while George Anthony and Cynthia Anthony were at work. A stunned prosecution was livid that Cindy then claimed on the witness stand that she was home early on those days and remembered making the searches herself. The prosecution in their rebuttal case on Friday subpoenaed Anthony’s nursing supervisor and the IT guy from the company where she worked, Gentiva Health. Both witnesses testified that Cindy was at work, and the IT witness went as far as proving it by the use of Anthony’s password, and the nursing supervisor showed documentation to the court that Anthony was entering patient information in the company computer at the hospital where she worked. This was while the searches were being done at her home.

None of this surprised me,” said Anthony’s ex-sister-in-law Pam Plesea. “When my son was 4 years old and we threw him a birthday party, Casey was just days or weeks old. Cindy showed up at my home and put the infant Casey up in my face and said, 'What a shame you will never know how it feels to have your own child.' I was mortified. My son was adopted, but he is my child and she then said, 'Oh, I meant that you never will have a girl, and it’s the best thing for a mother. She’s my life now.' Well, 25 years later, I see she is willing to possibly perjure herself for her daughter.”

Note that Cindy is quoted as using the word "meant", indicating that she was misunderstood.  Deceptive people count upon interpretation, rather than listening, but the subject heard what Cindy said, not what Cindy 'meant'.  Cindy's insult is plain.  This is an example of a person using Statement Analysis naturally, without any training.  Statement Analysis follows the rules of grammar.

Anthony’s attorney Mark Lippman stated on Friday that his client still maintains that she made the chloroform searches and not her daughter Casey. Prosecutors would not comment if they planned on filing perjury charges against Cynthia Anthony relating to her testimony, which was impeached by two witnesses on the stand on Friday.

Cindy lied under oath and now affirms her lie through her attorney.

Mom Plesea [Shirley Plesea] has been talking to me ever since this whole thing happened. She told me that on June 15 after she, Cindy and Caylee went to visit her husband at the nursing home, which is very close to where Shirley lives. She then showed Cindy that Casey had forged a $354 check on her husband’s nursing home account."

Note that in side bar, we learned that the defense knows of "hundreds of checks" that Casey wrote on Cindy's account.  This is not something Cindy will want out.

Please note that we will be regularly publishing Statement Analysis of the side bar transcripts.

"She later told me Cindy found out Casey had done this. She claimed she used the money to buy a new work phone for Universal Studios. Anyhow, Shirley told Cindy that she was going to call the police and she said that Cindy told her, if she did, she’d never speak to her again. So Shirley feels guilty to this day that she did not call the police. She had warned Cindy, if something was not done to stop Casey, that she’d end up doing something bad. Now Shirley lives with the grief that if she had only called the police that Caylee might still be alive today,” said Pam.

She told me that Cindy and George are not being totally honest about that night. Lee was there, Cindy confronted Casey on June 15 and they ended up in an altercation and Cindy choked Casey, Lee pulled them apart, and Cindy called Shirley to tell her that Casey would never steal again and that she had choked her. Then Cindy called her mother Shirley the next morning and told her that Casey had taken Caylee and the car before anyone woke up and was gone. That’s still very horrifying to Shirley. She’s very aged now and the little girl’s death weighs heavily on her mind.

Plesea spoke openly, but she seemed very concerned for her own safety after speaking with me. “George has done a lot that has not come out yet, including a violent altercation many years ago with his own father. Cindy knew she wanted George when she met him in the hospital, when he had a broken leg. She wanted to marry into the richest family in that town in Ohio, and that’s the kind of person she is. Casey was always weird. At age 12, she was very spooky looking even then. There is just so many layers of dysfunction to this family. Everyone knew that eventually the denial and dysfunction would lead to tragedy, but no one expected this to happen,” concluded Plesea.

Under oath, we learned that George got a gun to "get answers" indicating that he poses a danger to others.  If George is suicidal, he is likely capable of taking others with him.  She is right to be concerned for her own safety.  We have seen that this is a very violent, dangerous family, and capable of lying, even under an oath to a God they claim to serve.

Mom Casey Anthony Parties While Tot Is Missing

Canyon News learned exclusively last week about a new book being written about the alleged murder of the infamous Florida tot Caylee Anthony. Authors Kathleen McKenna and Marti Rulli are working on a fictional book, and they are also seeking to complete a screenplay about the story after the novel is completed.

The book opens with a minute-by-minute description of Caylee’s murder. Excuse me how silly of me, I meant of Crysty’s murder. It’s all fiction, after all. There are segues to her birth and her abbreviated little life. Those particular scenes were so upsetting to research and write that I was quite ill while doing them but I think they will answer any lingering questions the reader might have,” McKenna told Canyon News.

When asked about the revelation during Friday’s shocking testimony, when Cynthia Anthony’s testimony was refuted by two of her co-workers, Kathleen concluded, I was not surprised by the turn of events on Friday, not for a moment. Cindy Anthony is her daughter’s mother and lies about ludicrous things, easily provable things. For example, George’s prior marriage and her own activities on the penultimate day which led to Caylee’s murder on June 15, 2008. It seems to me that though both she and her daughter suffer from that rare disorder lyingitis, neither of them are very good at it. Why pick lies that can be disproved in an instant?”

Note that "I was not surprised" is First Person Singular, past tense, and has no qualifiers.

Canyon News contacted Casey Anthony’s attorney Jose Baez on July 1, but calls to his office and emails were not returned by press time. Closing statements will begin at 9 a.m. EST on Sunday, July 3. Then the case goes to the jury to deliberation for the verdict on Casey Anthony. It is a death penalty case in the State of Florida.
