Osi surprisingly shows at Giants practice after trade talks halted

No deal.
That is what the Giants told Osi Umenyiora and his agent Wednesday as the ongoing saga with the disgruntled defensive end continues.
The agent, Tony Agnone, in a text message to The Post wrote, “No more me looking for a trade.’’ General manager Jerry Reese then met with Umenyiora and, according to someone familiar with the conversation between the two, told him to take the rest of the day off to clear his head and report back to work Thursday morning. Umenyiora had been withholding his services for the past three practices.
Umenyiora left the Giants East Rutherford facility but surprisingly returned for their 6 p.m. indoor practice. He didn't work out with the team and was seen riding the stationary bike as he has during the previous workouts.
For the past two days, Agnone has been calling teams and taking calls, looking to move Umenyiora to a team that will offer a lucrative contract extension. The Giants put the price-tag at a first-round draft pick. Agnone told The Post he had contact from 21 teams but none was willing to part with a No. 1 pick.
The search is now over. The Giants contacted Agnone and told him to cease and desist, feeling they gave enough time for him to find a trade partner. No partner was found and now the Giants have dug in.
Umenyiora desperately wants a new contract, unsatisfied with the $7.1 million that remains on the remaining two years of his original six-year, $41 million extension he signed in 2005. Umenyiora is adamant that he is not getting paid fair-market value and sources close to him say he will never again play for the Giants unless he gets a new deal.
After holding out the first day of training camp – costing him $30,000 in holdout fine money – Umenyiora has been in camp every day ever since but has not participated in practice even though, the Giants say, there is no physical or health issue.
