LOS ANGELES -- New York Rangers winger Sean Avery was arrested and charged with battery on a cop Friday after allegedly shoving an officer who attempted to break up a party at his Hollywood Hills home.
Police responded to a neighbor's noise complaint at around 1:00am local time, TMZ reported. Avery is accused of pushing the officer after answering the door, before slamming the door shut.
He soon opened it upon a second knock before cooperating with the authorities, TMZ reported, quoting law enforcement.
Avery, whose conduct on and off the ice often has been brought into question, was taken to a Hollywood police station and held on $20,000 bail after being booked for battery on a peace officer.
