The above video response of middleweight fighter, Matthew Macklin inspired us to investigate the Matthew Macklin versus Felix Sturm boxing bout. Sure enough, Macklin's brash words that he had been robbed by the scoring decision were words of truth. I scored the fight 119-113 for Macklin, with Sturn only winning the final round on a flurry of punches during the final ten seconds.
How rigged was the fight? German television gave decision to Macklin by four. The two judges that voted against Macklin, had him losing by four. That is an unheard of discrepancy!
Levi Martinez scored the bout 115-113 for Macklin.
Roberto Ramirez scored the bout 116-112 for Sturm.
Jose Ignacio Martinez scored the bout 116-112 for Strum.
Conveniently, Martinez and Ramirez both had Sturm up 106-103 going into the final round. So even had Macklin scored the bout's first knockdown and won the round 10-8, he still would have lost.
Macklin dominated the fight. He landed more punches. He was the aggressor in every round. One could argue that he won it by a larger margin than the 119-113 Shots Heard tally.
The evidence suggests that all three judges are corrupt. Just because Levi Martinez scored this 115-113 for Macklin; don't assume that he was on the up and up.
